Thames Freeport Skills Accelerator

To match workers to jobs created at Thames Freeport and maximise the levelling up impact of Thames Freeport, the Thames Freeport Skills Accelerator will aim to deliver an end-to-end skills product that develops the local labour force while providing a pipeline of skilled workers for Thames Freeport businesses and their supply chains.

The Skills Accelerator will combine an in-depth mapping of skills requirements for development and operation of the Thames Freeport and its industrial clusters, combined with an unprecedented supplier partnership in the region, pairing the private sector leadership of the Thames Freeport sites with complementary Institute of Technology and Technical University programmes currently underway in South Essex.

These activities will be complemented by the development of a jobs brokerage and marketing service offered by Thames Freeport, which has not to date existed in the Thames Freeport region. Ensuring equality of access to skills development and workplace opportunities will be key to maximising the impact on Levelling Up and may involve enhanced access schemes for some groups.
