Thames Freeport has proudly launched its Exceptional Scholarship Programme, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering talented young people across Thurrock. This major new programme supports students in taking their next step toward higher education, apprenticeships, and vocational careers.

Breaking Down Barriers to Success

Funded by Thames Freeport partners—Forth Ports and DP World—the Exceptional Scholarship Programme removes financial obstacles for dedicated students at The Gateway Academy in Grays. It provides vital support to students pursuing college, university, apprenticeships, and specialist training opportunities.

Peter Ward, Commercial Director of the Port of Tilbury, commented:
“This funding provides real opportunities, breaking down financial barriers and unlocking potential for talented students.”

This initiative reflects Thames Freeport’s commitment to investing in local communities. As new businesses, jobs, and investments come to the region, Thames Freeport ensures that young people from local schools are equipped to seize these opportunities and become part of Thurrock’s growing success story.

Stuart Rimmer, Deputy CEO of Thames Freeport, said:
“At Thames Freeport, we are passionate about creating pathways to success for young people across Thurrock. This scholarship programme is vital to breaking down barriers and fostering local talent.”
