The development aligns with the evolving needs of the local economy and UK economic growth by focusing on clean energy and fuels of the future, advanced manufacturing, and logistics. This will generate up to 12,000 new jobs and an estimated £350m per year in economic value – powering up the local and national economy and delivering substantial direct and indirect benefits.

The site has established trimodal connectivity with river, road, and rail links, and is directly adjacent to DP World’s London Gateway Containerised Port.

Port of Tilbury

The Port of Tilbury is the largest of the Thames ports. Tilbury handles 16m tonnes of cargo per annum across 31 independent working terminals including the UK’s largest grain terminal and paper hub. The port is also a crucial logistics hub for construction, automotive and food & drink sectors. Cargo handling here is fast, smart and sustainable.

As the leading multimodal port for London and the South East of England, the Port of Tilbury supports all key cargo types and vessel classes. The port has over 5 million sq. ft of warehousing, 1,400 reefer points, and two advanced Border Control Posts for efficient inspection and clearance of perishable cargo. Tilbury2 is the UK’s newest RoRo terminal creating freight links with Zeebrugge
and Calais daily. Tilbury2 also serves as a strategic UK rail freight hub for Tesco.

The port houses 120 supply chain companies providing advanced logistics solutions to the largest brands of the food and drink sector. It is also home to the UK’s largest food and drink logistics provider – Culina.

The Port of Tilbury is already one of the UK’s largest ports, but it’s not stopping there. The port is planning to expand by 400 acres, creating a new tax site that will be home to a variety of businesses.

The tax site is adjacent to the existing Port of Tilbury and Tilbury2 estates and will be directly linked to the Lower Thames Crossing. This means businesses on the tax site will have excellent access to road and rail networks, making it a great location for logistics and manufacturing businesses.

The tax site is also undeveloped brownfield/greenfield land, which means that it is a great opportunity for businesses to build new facilities. The site is also well-suited for various usages, including manufacturing, distribution, and warehousing.

With its excellent connectivity, its proximity to major infrastructure projects, and its undeveloped land, the Port of Tilbury is a great opportunity for businesses to grow and succeed.
